Scam Alert: Fraudulent DMV Text Messages:

If you receive text messages claiming to be from the DMV and stating that a citation payment is overdue: these messages are fraudulent. The DMV never requests personal or financial information via text. 

Stay vigilant and protect your information. For official DMV updates, visit dmv.ca.gov.

The Yolo County Superior Court Self-Help Center / Family Law Facilitator's Office provides free legal information and assistance to self-represented parties. We provide information regarding court forms, rules, and procedures. We help parties to start their case or determine the next steps in their case. All services are free of charge.

Important Note: The Self-Help Center does not represent anyone and may assist all parties in your case. Please note that we are unable to communicate with the judge for you. We are unable to represent you and we cannot act as your attorney.

Family Law Services

  • Divorce - Filing procedures, forms, and requirements
  • Parentage - Establishing paternity and parental rights
  • Child Custody and Visitation - Custody orders, modification requests, and visitation schedules
  • Child Support - Initial orders, modifications, and enforcement
  • Cases involving the Department of Child Support Services - DCSS-related proceedings and requirements
  • Spousal Support - Support orders and modifications
  • Name Changes and Gender Changes - Legal name and gender marker changes

Civil Matters

  • Small Claims - Filing procedures and court preparation
  • Unlawful Detainers - Eviction proceedings and tenant rights

  • Conservatorship - General and limited conservatorship cases

Restraining Orders

How to Get Help

Walk-In Services

Walk-in assistance is available Tuesdays and Thursdays from 8:30 am to 2:30 pm.

Walk-In Check-In Process:

  • Please check in using the kiosk
  • Take a seat and wait for your number to be called
  • You will be called by a staff member to complete a short screening
  • Follow the instructions provided by the staff member

What to Bring: Each time you visit the Self-Help Center during walk-in hours, please remember to bring your case number and a blue/black ink pen.

Virtual Appointments

  • Schedule Online: Virtual appointment booking
  • DCSS Virtual Appointments: Virtual appointments with the Department of Child Support Services are available during walk-in hours

Telephone assistance is available on Monday, Wednesday, and Friday. You may contact our office at (530) 406-6793. Please note that we are not able to answer every call as it comes in. If we do not answer your call, leave a voicemail with your name, phone number, and case number. We will return your call within 3 business days.

Required Orientations

For family law cases involving child custody, each parent is required to first complete an online orientation, unless they have completed an online orientation within the last two years before scheduling CCRC appointments.
