PHONE SCAM ALERT

: in more than a dozen states, including California, reports have been filed regarding calls from people claiming to be court officials or law enforcement officers. Do not provide any information having to do with your bank or credit card to anyone claiming to be an officer of the court or of the law. If you receive communication from someone requesting your personal information, immediately contact the fraud unit of your local police department. Be advised that although court personnel may contact you by telephone, they will never ask for your personal or credit card information.

Photography, Reporting or Broadcasting

Procedure for Inside the Courtroom:

Pursuant to Rule 1.150, of the California Rules of Court, media requests to photograph, video/audio record, and broadcast public court proceedings, which may include pooled coverage, are at the discretion of the judicial officer presiding over the proceeding.

  1. Submit the Judicial Council forms, MC-500, Media Request to Photograph, Record, or Broadcast, and MC-510, Order on Media Request to Permit Coverage to the Court Executive Office,

  1. The request form and order shall be submitted to the Court at least five (5) court days before the proceeding to be covered unless good cause is shown. Good cause is considered for the initial hearing in a criminal case given the short timeline within which the case is filed (See Rule 1.150(e)(1), of the California Rules of Court).

Procedures for Outside the Courtroom:

Members of the media shall meet with the Executive Office prior to operating media equipment in common areas of the courthouse.
