Length and Hours of Service

Length of Service "One-Day or One-Trial"

Yolo Superior Court has a “One-Day or One-Trial" term of service. This means that a juror generally serves for one day or the duration of a trial. The average length of jury trials in Yolo County are three to six days. If the judge or attorneys excuse you through the jury selection process, your service is complete and you are not eligible again for service for 12 months (unless you request a hardship excuse from the judge). In addition, as a seated juror or alternate, you are also not eligible again for service for 12 months. As an added incentive, at Yolo Superior Court, we excuse our jurors for a longer length of time if the jury trial is one month or longer. The vast majority of people who actually serve on a jury find it a fascinating and rewarding experience that they would do again.
